Wall warts are bad.

Wall warts are bad.

Wall warts, also known as power supplies or transformers are notorious for failing. It’s too often the case that a piece of electronics fails and when troubleshooting it we discover that the failed piece is actually the wall transformer and not the actual piece of electronics. When the internal workings begin to come apart, either through wear & tear, banging & abuse, or even loss of adhesion of the binding glue, these units start no longer output clean DC power. If they just fail, you’re lucky. What’s worse is if they fail and output dirty power that is damaging to to the electronics it powering.

Sadly, this exact thing has happened to me on several occasions. I had several Lacie brand external hard drives fail one after another. Every time I sent it in for repair they’d send me a replacement and within a couple days that drive would fail. It turned out to be a faulty power supply that wasn’t “Made in America”. Fast forward and I learn about the Surge-X Squid. This is a clean power supply that not only cleans up power for standard AC devices but also allows you to replace the wall warts in your system. It will replace 3 DC banks covering 5V, 12V & 24V. Professional installation is recommended. Call Haas Entertainment for details. 310-641-4700
