Get your Wi-Fi Outside

Get your Wi-Fi Outside

Most people use their home’s Wi-Fi when inside the house but automatically switch to LTE when outside. This isn’t always great, especially if you are trying to Stream to Apple, Sonos or BlueSound from your backyard.

There are many reasons you would use Wi-Fi outside rather than using your phone’s cellular antenna. Being on the home network allows you to control the music (also lights, shades etc.) It saves the battery on your phone since Wi-Fi uses less power than LTE. It’s faster! Saves data if you don’t have an unlimited plan. Allows functionality of many outdoor smart-items such as: Surveillance cameras, Lighting, Smart-outlets, Sonos, Wireless doorbells, Voice control via Amazon Alexa, etc.

The answer is to have an outdoor wireless access point professionally installed. One of the models we like to recommend is the Luxul XAP-1440. It is a great choice for the money. It should be noted that it cost less than other professional models from Ubiquity, Packedge or Ruckus.

The high-powered XAP-1440 employs 802.11ac technology to deliver superior Wi-Fi coverage and great data rates to outdoor areas. Compatible with Luxul Wireless Controllers, the XAP-1440 can be used standalone or as part of a multi-AP deployment. Set-up and installation are simple and the rugged IP-65 rated design offers both pole or wall mounting options—making it a great choice for superior outdoor wireless coverage.
